CALIFORNIA ON FILM
I was fortunate enough to take a road trip in America recently, with two of my very good friends and amazing photographers James Frost and Ben Murphy. We met some incredibly kind and inspiring humans, as well as a few crazy ‘might have a gun’ humans too. We trekked over salt plains, climbed giant rock formations in Joshua Tree, marvelled at the incredible light everywhere we went, nearly threw up standing at the edge of the Salton Sea (trust me it really stinks) and explored the abandoned towns that lined its shores. There was so much more we saw and experienced, but that’s a good start.
It was exactly the kind of kick in the pants I needed to fall back in love with photography again. I realise the only way forward from this point is to shoot more personal work. More film. More stuff that scares me.
Most of what you see below was taken on the Canon 1V, with Kodak Portra film and developed by Richard Photo Lab.
